Social Worker and Teacher Aide
Jasmin Tang (Class of 2009) brings a wealth of experience to her role at 51СʪÃÃ, drawing from her background in children’s and youth ministry, nannying, sports coaching, and social work. Now serving in both the Student Support and Health & Physical Education (HPE) Departments, Jasmin is dedicated to nurturing students’ potential while completing her Master of Teaching.
Throughout her Primary and Secondary education at 51СʪÃÃ, Jasmin embraced every opportunity to develop her talents, particularly in fitness and the performing arts. Her faith, founded in Christian education, was explored at a young age through class devotions with peers and teachers, involving meaningful faith-filled conversations.
“I’m very grateful for a Christian education. This has been my normal—shaping and informing who I am.â€ Throughout school, study and work, Jasmin has developed her God-given qualities of empathy and compassion to serve Jesus in caring and nurturing pathways.

Practicing Empathy Through Beauty Therapy
Jasmin’s career began in beauty therapy, following her heart to help people nurture their body and soul. Her work took her aboard a cruise ship, where she combined her love for travel with her desire to share the Gospel. “One of my heart’s desires was to travel and share the Gospel. On the cruise ship, I had opportunities to pray for people and see God move. I even baptised a colleague who was a close friend, in the spa in Norway!â€
Though the work was demanding, Jasmin found strength in her faith during challenging times. “There have been moments in my life—starting in high school—where I’ve said, ‘God, even though it was tough, I can see how You were there in the midst of it.’
Extending Compassion Through Social Work
Looking for a change of pace and to follow her desire to serve God and others, Jasmin pursued a Bachelor of Social Science and Ministry at Christian Heritage College (CHC). Her studies equipped her with an understanding of human behaviour and psychology, alongside service leadership and business skills. Her interest in these areas was sparked at 51СʪÃÃ, through studying sports psychology in HPE, Arts in NOVA, Business and a mission trip to Fiji.
As a social worker, Jasmin worked in child protection as a youth worker, an intensive youth worker, and a case worker for the fostering system. She also interned as a community liaison officer in a local council and later worked as a student wellbeing officer in a Christian school. Jasmin was always guided by prayer and a desire to see people through God’s eyes. “As a Christian, I ask the Lord, ‘How do You see this person? How would You respond?’ I do what I can, and trust God with the rest.
Nurturing Through Nannying and Ministry
Throughout her studies, Jasmin served as a nanny for pastors at 51СʪÃà Church, a role that grew from her long-standing involvement in children’s and youth ministry. Her heart for service has led her to volunteer in a wide range of church ministries— from creative and prophetic teams to Red Frogs and mission trips.
Supporting and Coaching Students at 51СʪÃÃ
Today, Jasmin brings her experience to 51СʪÃÃ, where she supports students in the classroom and assists in HPE lessons. Her work in the Student Support Department involves helping students who require assistance with their learning, creating social stories for reporting, and working with case managers. “Through relationship building and allowing them to feel safe in the school setting, … students feel like they have a sense of belonging as they journey through.â€
In HPE, Jasmin draws on her coaching experience with Physi Kids, where she helped children develop a love for health and fitness. “On Wednesdays, I join Primary sports for Prep to Year 3, assisting with rotations and making fitness fun for each age group. Jasmin understands the pressures children can experience and is committed to helping them realise their strengths, build confidence, and develop emotional and social skills to help navigate friendships.

A Faithful Foundation
As a Year 12 student and after graduation, Jasmin found her passion and purpose in sharing the Gospel. “Seeing people come to know and love the Lord— that’s my passion. I used to think I’d be a missionary overseas, but I’ve realised God can use us anywhere. Recently, Jasmin took another step to utilise her talents in Australia, pursuing a Master of Teaching at CHC and a Diploma of Counselling. Completing her practical training at a Townsville Christian school, she learned more about teaching strategies in the classroom that empower students to manage their behaviour toward positive outcomes. It was a wonderful experience for her to see so many of her disciplines working in harmony: spiritual and emotional support, counselling, and teaching.
Throughout her career, Jasmine has drawn on various skills and experiences to nurture those in her care. Here at 51СʪÃÃ, she focuses on the holistic development of students—integrating faith and sharing the Gospel, fostering respect for self and others, and promoting excellence in education.
